  • About Us | FlowState Divers | Tenerife

What is FlowState Diving? It is the optimal state of consciousness when submerged. We feel our best, and we perform our best. More specifically, it refers to those moments of rapt attention and total absorption when action awareness will start to merge, and your sense of self will vanish. You become one with the environment, the fear of the unknown fades, and the reward is priceless as it leads you to better mental and physical control of yourself beyond the feeling of exploring a whole new world. Welcome to FlowState Diving. Who Are We? FlowState Divers is an association of dive professionals with a simple goal in mind - to provide individualised and adaptive training to those who are keen to reinvent themselves through the experience of entering the flow state of scuba diving. Our teaching methods and carefully crafted courses emphasise fundamental skill development from the get-go and provide increased attention to the needs of each individual; to ensure the quality of the diver by the end of their training program. Our diverse interests and background in scuba diving allowed us to combine the best aspects of cave and technical diving into our recreational programs; in an attempt to elevate the overall quality of our students without sacrificing the standards. Essential skills, such as buoyancy and breathing control, trim, and propulsion techniques, are the cornerstones of all our courses; we also emphasise the development of a team-oriented mentality in diving. We don’t sell certification cards. We create conscious divers. Why Dive With Us? Due to the fast-paced nature of modern consumer culture, the quality of beginner-level diving training has been drastically lowered on a global scale. Despite the completeness of dive training organisation standards and study materials, there is an ever-increasing number of freshly certified divers that possess suboptimal knowledge. Students receive training in large groups for the absolute minimum required course duration, getting certification cards regardless of their personal skill development. The recognition of this problem is the driving force behind our initiative. We decided to take a radically different approach by designing more detailed and longer courses that are not transforming or changing the certifying agency standards but rather expanding upon certain aspects of it for the benefit of our students. We understand that we all have different abilities; therefore, our courses only specify a minimum number of required days to conduct; but students can request additional sessions until they meet the performance requirements and can proudly call themselves a "FlowState Diver". To guarantee that each student receives individual attention; our programs are limited to a maximum of 3 attendees throughout the course. This attitude makes the training more efficient and creates a personal atmosphere where all our students feel more comfortable. During our programs, we provide top-of-the-line, hand-picked scuba gear for all attendees that far exceeds what most dive operators provide their students with; simply because we believe that diving with quality and correctly configured equipment is just as important as having the right education. We are not associated with any scuba brands; therefore, we do not influence our customers in any way to purchase certain pieces of equipment, but we educate and help them make the right decisions that fit the individual best. Private Guided Dives At FlowState Divers, our top priority is the safety and welfare of our divers. In pursuit of this goal, we maintain small diving groups led by a single guide, with a maximum of three divers per group. This arrangement ensures vigilant supervision and mutual awareness during each diving session. It's essential to emphasise that all our guided dives are meticulously crafted to provide personalized and exclusive experiences based on your level and interest. This approach guarantees that you won't be grouped with unfamiliar individuals at a dive site that doesn't align with your interests. As a result, your diving expedition remains secure and tailored uniquely to you, fostering a warm and cohesive ambience among all participants. The Master Series™ We created a brand new series to help our divers understand crucial aspects of scuba skills. Our mission is crystal clear: With every episode, we're dedicated to equipping both beginners and experienced divers with the tools they need to master their scuba journey. At FlowState Divers, we firmly believe that practice makes perfect. That's why we hone our skills with each and every dive. You don't have to dedicate an entire dive to skill-building, just a little practice on each dive goes a long way. We're your ultimate guides, breaking down complex skills into manageable bites and offering expert demonstrations, nifty tips and tricks that'll become your diving arsenal. Subscribe to our YouTube channel. Personalised Training We offer personalised workshops focusing on a specific topic or skill. Our workshops are customised training sessions designed for recreational divers looking to advance their skills. You'll work one-on-one with a highly experienced FlowState instructor who will evaluate your current abilities and pinpoint specific areas for improvement. The duration of the training will depend on your individual needs, and the cost is on a per-session basis. These workshops are an excellent way to continue diving education and gain the knowledge and skills necessary to become a more proficient diver. We believe in the power of video debriefing; therefore, we provide this option to all our students, and they can keep the materials for personal use after completing the program. Good basic swimming ability and comfort in the water are sufficient. What does it mean to be "fit to dive"? Being "fit to dive" means being psychologically, medically, and physically prepared for diving. It includes the ability to carry diving equipment on land, safely enter and exit the water, and maintain overall fitness. A medical questionnaire needs to be completed prior to diving, and depending on the answers, a physician's clearance may be required. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions regarding this process. How should I plan my schedule before and after diving? Diving is physically demanding, so it is important to ensure you are well-rested and not under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substances that may impair your attention. Get a good night's sleep before diving and have a meal before your dive. What should I bring with me on the day of my dive? Please bring a towel and dry clothes for after the dive. As we will be heading directly to the dive site, you may wear your swimsuit in advance to make the changing process easier and more comfortable for you. While we provide snacks and water, you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. Do I need to visit the dive centre? No, you don't need to go anywhere. We offer complimentary pick-up and drop-off services from your hotel or apartment to the dive site, so transportation is taken care of. However, if you demonstrate confidence and comfort with your equipment during the first session, we can proceed with a second dive, which can reach a maximum depth of 12 metres. Are there any restrictions for flying or going to the mountains after diving? It is recommended to avoid flying and high-altitude activities for at least 12 hours after diving to prevent potential decompression-related issues. How can I book a scuba activity? You can make an online booking through our website. Each activity has its own booking process. Simply click on the appropriate button for the activity you choose (“Book Your Dive”, “Book Your Course” or “Book Your Session”), provide your details and the requested date for the activity, and we will confirm your booking by sending you an email with important information about the activity. • UTD Essentials of Tech | FlowState Divers

WHO IS THIS CLASS DESIGNED FOR? The Essentials of Technical Diving is where students receive the foundation of UTD/DIR philosophy, configuration, and in-water skills. The class is designed for any diver that wants to learn about the benefits of UTD and apply them to their diving. The class is not only geared toward the beginner tech diver, but even seasoned veteran tech divers have found that by incorporating UTD principles into their diving practices, they increase both safety and fun. Photographers and videographers will especially appreciate the detailed training in propulsion & precision buoyancy control that assists you in getting that perfect shot! Instructors will appreciate the “fresh look” at diver training and skill development. This is a great first step towards learning and understanding the Unified Team Diving approach. WHY SHOULD I TAKE THIS CLASS? Regardless of your experience level, UTD philosophy allows you to grow as a diver. Some divers are eager to begin incorporating the increased skill and academic demands of UTD but do not have the desire to become deep technical divers. This class is tailor made for aspiring recreational divers who wants to know what skills they need to work on, or for the diver new to UTD who wants to learn more without the burden of passing a class. This class serves as an excellent introduction to UTD Technical classes, and is perfect for someone who wants to start in technical diving. WHY TRAIN WITH US? At FlowState Divers , we proudly stand apart as an elite group of dive professionals with extensive backgrounds in Cave and Technical diving. What sets us apart from the rest is our unique approach; we don't just teach, we teach as we dive. Our unwavering commitment to excellence drives us to be the best of the best in the diving world. When you train with us, you're not just learning the skills; you're embarking on a journey to exceed industry standards. Our students emerge from our programs as self-aware and utterly badass divers, well-prepared to explore the underwater world with confidence and expertise. Essentials Of Tech The UTD Essentials of Technical Diving course serves as an entry point for technical courses. This program offer divers the opportunity to acquire the essential diving skills required to engage in collaborative team diving and maintain safety and control while underwater, adhering to the DIR philosophy of being a "thinking diver." The course commences with a focus on proper breathing, which is the foundation for achieving buoyancy control. Achieving precise buoyancy, along with a streamlined horizontal body position, is the hallmark of a skilled Scuba Diver, symbolizing mastery of water control. As you progress, you'll learn to effortlessly maintain your position in the water, which sets the stage for the acquisition of additional skills. These include mastering five distinct kicks (frog-kick, modified frog-kick, modified flutter-kick, helicopter turn, and back-kick) that minimise sediment disturbance and enhance your control for both forward and backward movements. The curriculum also covers advanced techniques such as proper air-sharing procedures known as S-drills, team protocols, the utilisation of Surface Marker Buoys (SMBs), comprehensive gas planning, and proper ascent strategies. Additionally, you will delve into the intricacies of managing a twinset, including the Valve Drill and the rationale behind regulator configurations. The course also addresses working with a stage/deco cylinder. If you have an interest in acquiring these skills but aren't yet inclined toward technical diving, the Essentials of Rec program is a suitable alternative. Importantly, you can seamlessly transition from Rec to Tech without starting over. The Essentials of Technical Diving is typically conducted in open water at depths of 6-10 meters. This personalized class equips you to venture into technical depths by enhancing your mastery of buoyancy, trim, and propulsion. It also introduces more advanced air-sharing techniques and deco bottle handling protocols, along with complex gas planning and ascent strategies. Overall, the Essentials of Technical Diving acts as a vital link between traditional training and the more rigorous technical curriculum offered by UTD. Its primary goal is to develop you into a "Thinking Diver," whether you plan to pursue further tech training or simply aspire to become a highly skilled recreational diver. If the Essentials of Tech incorporates Nitrox academics, it includes a Nitrox certification allowing you to dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters. PREREQUISITES • Minimum age of 18 years of age. • UTD Recreational Diver 2 (Advanced Diver) or equivalent. • Minimum of 50 dives beyond open water certification, 25 of which must be non-training dives. • DOUBLES MINI | FlowState Divers

WHO IS THIS CLASS DESIGNED FOR? Created for divers interested in either embarking on the path of technical diving or seeking safer and more extended dive experiences on a recreational level, this course is suitable for anyone looking to explore the advantages of utilising double tank configurations. If you're contemplating a move into technical diving but are uncertain about committing to the Intro to Tec course, and you'd like to experience diving with doubles beforehand, taking this class is an excellent option. Alternatively, if your goal is to extend your recreational dives while emphasising safety through the use of double tanks, this course is the perfect choice. WHY TRAIN WITH US? At FlowState Divers , we proudly stand apart as an elite group of dive professionals with extensive backgrounds in Cave and Technical diving. What sets us apart from the rest is our unique approach; we don't just teach, we dive as we teach. Doubles Mini The Doubles mini training is designed to introduce and train divers in the use of the double tank back mount configuration. Double tanks, also known as "Doubles" or “Twinset” offer an advantage over single tanks by providing complete redundancy and larger gas volumes. However, balancing and trimming doubles can pose a challenge due to the additional cylinder and gear. As doubles feature two valves, two first stages, and a manifold, it is essential for the diver to possess a comprehensive understanding of the individual workings of each valve, as well as how they collectively function in the system, to ensure safe diving with the equipment. Throughout the academic segment of this course, divers acquire knowledge about the principles of Double Tank Diving, appropriate weighting, the types, functions, and purposes of isolatable manifolds, as well as normal and emergency procedures. During the land drills divers receive instruction regarding the setup, configuration, care and maintenance of the back mount system. They engage in valve drills, and explore various scenarios by simulating the “9 failures”. Throughout two in-water sessions, divers, in collaboration with the instructor, have the time and opportunity to properly adjust their weighting and trim, engage in valve drills, and successfully fulfil the necessary tasks for certification. PREREQUISITES • Minimum age of 18 • Certified as at least a UTD Recreational 2 (Advanced Diver) or equivalent COURSE LIMITS • Maximum depth: 18m • Standard gas is Air (21% O2) • No stage decompression • No overhead environments • All dives are to maintain a working PO2 of no greater than 1.4 REQUIREMENTS • Completed UTD registration process • Completed online classroom materials • The use of prescription drugs must be authorised prior to the onset of diver training by a physician 2 IN-WATER SESSIONS 2 DAYS OF TRAINING MAX. 18M OF DEPTH What You Learn • UTD/DIR Philosophy & Twinset Equipment Configuration • Proper weighting and trim using doubles • Care & Maintenance of the Back mount system • Purposes & functions of isolatable manifolds • Valve drills & possible failures What You Earn ✓ UTD Doubles Mini certification ✓ Confidence & Knowledge ✓ Foundational Skills using doubles ✓ FlowState Membership ✓ Continuous education at discounted prices Book Training What's Included ? €399 Master Series Introducing our Master Series on YouTube, a comprehensive collection of videos meticulously crafted to empower divers with the tools and knowledge they need to enhance their underwater skills.
