How to Master The Valve Drill (Backmount)

Mastering the valve drill is essential for divers using doubles, whether in twinset or sidemount configuration. Contrary to common belief, it is not an emergency procedure but a skill-building exercise to understand equipment and develop muscle memory. This video breaks down a variation of a valve drill procedure, emphasizing the importance of thorough comprehension over speed. The step-by-step process involves shutting down valves, managing regulators, and performing checks. Maintaining communication and eye contact with the team is crucial during the exercise, and the importance of signalling out-of-air in case of confusion is highlighted.
